This past fall I made the pilgrimage to Memphis, Tennessee. As a child my parents always poked fun that I had a huge crush on Elvis Presley. I refuted this since boys were icky at the time. Through the years I received Elvis memorabilia and movies as gifts for the fun of it. Despite my efforts to refute this supposed celebrity crush…I think I wore G.I. Blues out on the VHS player.

It was this past fall that I decided to make the trek down south. My attraction to all things shrine brought me to the biggest Elvis shrine- Memphis. The photos in this first post are from my first night where I was able to really check out Beale Street. I ate at the Blues City Cafe where I had decent tamales. Afterwards I went over to B.B. King’s Blues Club and enjoyed some great blues music. The blues music was found at other bars and clubs I hoped by throughout the night. There was also a ton of Elvis memorabilia in the windows of gift and tourist shops down the street, just getting me even more pumped about seeing Graceland.

And if you haven’t seen this I would recommend it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05ZgyoZvhgI
